ASUS Zenfone AR to be the New Project Tango Smartphone in Town!

It’s been a while since Lenovo launched their Project Tango-ready smartphone, the Phab 2. It doesn’t seem to have made a lot of waves since then though and now it’s about to become obsolete thanks to the imminent arrival of the ASUS Zenfone AR. As if that wasn’t bleak enough for the Phab 2, the Zenfone AR will be Daydream-ready as well.

The VR and AR-ready device would have been an awfully nice surprise if it hadn’t been leaked ahead of schedule due to a careless blog pos by none other than ASUS itself. Then again, we wouldn’t already know that the Zenfone AR will come with the Snapdragon 821 chipset. In a separate leak by notorious leaker Evan Blass (aka @evleaks), we now also know what the Zenfone AR will look like.

Of course, we’ll still have to wait for the official reveal for the rest of the specs.¬†Still, here’s hoping for a flagship class smartphone with a price point that won’t break the bank.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
