Huawei EDGE with Aluminum Shell Gets Leaked

Just as Huawei Philippines is expected to launch the Ascend W1 today (April 12), it appears that photos of a new flagship device from the Chinese manufacturer have been leaked and are making the rounds online. China has been known as the land of the knockoffs, but the Huawei EDGE is looking to resist that cliche by coming out with an elegant and premium-looking aluminum shell and a svelte design that’s no thicker than 6.3mm! If that’s not already the slimmest smartphone yet that will be anticipated to hit the market then I don’t know what is.

Of course, a unique and eye-catching design won’t be enough to convince consumers, so it’s a good thing the Huawei EDGE is expected to pack innards that are on par with this year’s incoming flagships. It will sport a 4.9 inch Full HD display (1080 x 1920), a quad core CPU, 2Gb of RAM and a 13mp primary shooter. All of this hardware will be powered by a 2,600mAh battery that they’ll manage to cram into that 6.3mm thick frame. The Huawei EDGE is expected to run Jelly Bean 4.2 and should become available in 16Gb and 32Gb variants.

Huawei is a respected OEM that belongs in the top 5 list worldwide, however a lot of their phones have sported uninspired designs. With the kind of design philosophy that they’re taking with the Huawei EDGE, hopefully that will change, especially if they hope to draw the interest of consumers who are looking to get the best value for money without compromising the looks of their device.
