Cherry Mobile Launches Flare S6, S6 Plus and S6 Selfie Starting at Php4k!

Cherry Mobile hasn’t been as noisy as the competition, but they’ve managed to hold the #1 spot in the Philippines as the top smartphone maker thus far. Now, they’ve launched the new Flare S6 lineup just in time for Christmas, and all of them are feature-packed for their respective price points.

Cherry Mobile Flare S6

The Flare S6 is the entry level model, priced at just Php3,999. For the money, you’re getting a 5.2 inch HD IPS display with a 1.3GHz quad core processor from MediaTek running under the hood. In addition, you have a decent serving of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. For seamless security, it has a fingerprint sensor on the back as well and you get to take advantage of USB Type-C for faster charging and the convenience of a reversible connector. Where budget-minded Pinoys might really appreciate the Flare S6 though is that you’re getting a 13mp camera both on the front and back.

Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Selfie

Up next is the Flare S6 Selfie, a phone that the selfie-crazed local market is sure to go for at just Php7,999. Specs-wise, you get a 5.2 inch Full HD display along with a more powerful 1.5GHz octa-core processor, also from MediaTek. The Flare S6 Selfie gets its name from its 16mp front camera for shareable selfies you can instantly post to Facebook or Instagram. The rear camera isn’t a slouch either as it too is rated at 16mp. Other specs include a fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C.

Cherry Mobile Flare S6 Plus

Last but not least is the Flare S6 Plus, which is easily the best phone in the lineup not just because of its overall performance, but because of how much you’re getting for the money. It sports a 5.7 inch HD+ 18:9 display to go along with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, a whopping 4GB RAM, and an even more impressive 64GB of internal storage. What’s even more impressive is that it has a quadruple camera setup: 2 in front and 2 in the back, both in a 16mp+5mp configuration. Other specs include a fingerprint sensor and of course, USB Type-C, all for just Php9,999.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
