Cherry Mobile Excalibur Revealed with Octa-Core CPU and 5 Inch HD Screen! [Updated with More Pics!]

Cherry Mobile Excalibur

The Cherry Mobile Cosmos One was a great octa-core phone at a great value. Unfortunately, the local brand only released it to the public for one day as part of their 5th year anniversary celebration. Since then, it’s been nowhere to be seen except for the sporadic review here and there. Well, if you’ve been looking for an alternative, then the Cherry Mobile Excalibur (revealed thanks to Cherry Angel) just might scratch your itch.

Specs-wise, the Cherry Mobile Excalibur is almost identical to the Cosmos One. The Excalibur’s IPS screen is smaller at 5 inches versus the Cosmos One’s 5.5 inch screen. However, the 1.4GHz MT6589M octa-core SoC, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM is the same as the anniversary phone’s. Also, thanks to the chipset, HSPA+, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are supported right out of the box.

The specs are decent but rather ho-hum on paper. However, there are a few notable features such as the Dragontrail scartch- and shatter-resistant glass, as well as the 13mp camera with its Sony IMX179 BSI sensor. On the downside, you only get a 1,920mAh battery, which is non-removable at that. Still, at Php6,999, the Cherry Mobile Excalibur is a solid value. You’ll just have to decide if you can live with the average battery capacity.

  1. Seriously.. Cherry Mobile should change the battery of this phone. They’re using octa-core processor with 1920 mAh battery and non-removable. I wonder how long would that phone last.
