Cherry Mobile Omega: The First Local Jelly Bean 4.1 Budget Phone | Update: Specs Confirmed

When Cherry Mobile posted their XXXL teaser on the Facebook page, a lot of people were hoping it was the much-awaited Jelly Bean-powered Omega. That later turned out to be the Cruize, but now there’s a new promo graphic that they’ve posted, and this time it’s specifically for the Cherry Mobile Omega! Check it out below.

Cherry Mobile Omega Official Promo Graphic

There are still few details about the specs as Cherry Mobile hasn’t released anything official aside from what’s on the promo graphic. It will at least have a capacitive 5.2 inch screen, a 1GHz dual core CPU, a large 2,300mAh battery and Jelly Bean 4.1 out of the box. For the budget-minded out there, the SRP is a pocket-friendly Php6,699. While a lot of blogs out there have singled out the Zoppo ZP900 as being the likely OEM device for the Omega, it can be seen in the promo graphic that they just don’t look alike. The Zoppo ZP900 has a S3-esque physical home button while the Omega in the promo graphic has all-capacitive navigation buttons. Look for the Cherry Mobile Omega to hit kiosks soon within the month.

UPDATE: Specs have been confirmed by NoypiGeeks. The key features we’ve been waiting to learn about are a 5.2 inch screen with WVGA resolution, 512Mb of RAM, a 5mp rear-facing camera and VGA front camera. For an additional Php200, you get a slightly larger screen and Android 4.1. While those two features might justify the slight difference in price, it’s hard not to be disappointed by the RAM and WVGA resolution. The Titan walked a very fine line in being considered a great budget smartphone with few compromises. It looks to me like the Cherry Mobile Omega crossed that line. I’ll be holding on to my Blaze a little bit longer until they release another Jelly Bean phone, hopefully with more RAM.

  1. naah just w8 for starmobile Diamond n MyPhone version of micromax 116, mura nga pero sa history ng cm phones na sirain no thanks

  2. Yeah, if MyPhone brings in their vesion of the micromax 116 that would be great. Whats the Starmobile Diamond?

Also, I used the Kingcom Padphone 61 from Wellcom. The specs are similar to the Omega but carries a 6″ screen. Memory is also at 512MB. So far it hasn’t bogged down, pero Jelly bean uses a lot of the memory 🙁
