Boy, Cherry Mobile is on a roll. Just over a month after releasing the Titan and Flare to the public, the local cellphone and electronics company has released another powerful yet affordable Android handset: The Cherry Mobile Skyfire! The Skyfire sports some respectable internals, most notably a 4.7 inch (480 x 800) capacitive display, 1GHz dual core MT6577 CPU, 512Mb of RAM and 4Gb ROM.
The Cherry Mobile Skyfire sells for Php5,999, which is cheaper than the recently announced Flame (Php6,299), but that’s because it sports a lower resolution despite the larger screen. It’s a rather respectable-looking phone that slightly resembles the Galaxy Nexus, which is roughly the same size, save for the curved screen. If you’re having a hard time looking for the Cherry Mobile Flare, then the Skyfire might be a great alternative for you, especially if you find the Titan to be too large. Sure, you might be spending more, but there are a lot of advantages to a larger screen, such as a better experience when watching movies, browsing the internet, or reading eBooks and even magazines.
Of course, there is one particular drawback that has me concerned. The Skyfire only sports a 1,500mAh battery, which is the same capacity as that of the Flare. On a larger screen, it might struggle to get you through the day on a single charge if you’re a heavy user. Still, the Cherry Mobile Skyfire presents a lot of value to the budget-conscious Pinoy, and as long as it has enough power to last until you get back home from work and plug it in, most of you will be fine anyway. The best part? You won’t be ashamed to whip this baby out next to a Galaxy Nexus or S2 🙂
