O+ USA Notepad with Intellipen is a High End Convertible on a Budget!

OPlus Notepad with Intellipen

While there are a few serviceable Windows convertibles from our locally based budget brands, a lot of them have been serviceable, but underwhelming. This is why the newly revealed O+ USA Notepad with Intellipen is a breath of fresh air. Not only does it function as a convertible should, but it also delivers a few key features none of its competitors have.

The most obvious feature is the IntelliPen that comes bundled with the O+ USA Notepad. It’s basically a stylus that allows you to boost your creativity and productivity on your tablet. Naturally, the Notepad looks to be optimized for stylus input. It hasn’t been revealed whether it allows for pressure-sensitive input, which would allow the Intellipen to mimic real handwriting. While I doubt it, it would be a nice surprise if the Intellipen supports it.

Keyboard Dock

Of course, being a convertible, the Notepad comes with a keyboard dock that effectively transforms it into a laptop for enhanced productivity. O+ USA hasn’t gone into much detail about what the dock brings in terms of added functionality, but it should give you at least 2 extra USB ports based on the photos. Hopefully, it’ll add an internal battery as well.

Dual OS

Something O+ USA hasn’t necessarily revealed yet except through replies to their fans on their Facebook page is that the Notepad is a dual OS tablet. Yes, it runs Windows 10, but it runs Android as well. The exact version hasn’t been disclosed yet, but hopefully it’s running at least Lollipop 5.1.

Other important specs are its 10.1 inch WUXGA screen and a whopping 4GB of RAM. Most entry level convertibles already available through our local brands only come equipped with HD screens, making the Notepad a superior multimedia machine. And thanks to the extra RAM, it should multitask well even when running the more demanding Windows side of things.

Intellipen

The Notepad is powered by a 1.4GHz Intel Z8300 quad-core processor to go along with 64GB of internal storage. That may seem like a lot of storage for a tablet, but it’s important to consider that both Windows and Android will be sharing this resource, so the actual available storage will be much less than you would expect from a 64GB device. Still, it’s certainly an improvement compared to other local convertibles that only come with 32GB of storage at most.

Another thing you won’t find on other convertibles at this price point is 4G LTE support. Yep, the O+ USA packs a SIM slot so you can connect to the internet without having to be tethered to a WiFi hotspot.

The O+ USA Notepad with its Intellipen is certainly a compelling option. Despite its higher price point, it’s a bang-for-buck convertible that should appeal to many students and young professionals looking to be productive on the go.
