Starmobile Knight Luxe is an AMOLED-Equipped Octa-core Smartphone for Less Than Php8k!

Starmobile Knight Luxe

I’ve always been a big fan of AMOLED screens, so it’s nice to see Starmobile come out with an affordable AMOLED-equipped smartphone in the form of the newly announced Knight Luxe. Of course, affordable doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s a compromise in performance as the Starmobile Knight Luxe has the heart of a 1.4GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek beating under the hood.

The rest of the specs aren’t too shabby either. You’re getting 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, as well as MicroSD support in case the available storage isn’t enough for you. There’s also a Samsung-made ISOCELL 13mp rear-facing autofocus camera with LED flash, as well as a 5mp front camera for selfies and video calls.

Unfortunately, it only has a 2,050mAh battery, which may be due to the 6.8mm thin frame. Apparently, this is the slimmest smartphone Starmobile has come out with yet so that isn’t really a surprise. Also, the Knight Luxe runs on KitKat 4.4, which a majority of today’s locally branded smartphones run on as well. However, it would have been nice if it ran at least Lollipop 5.0 as it’s been available for a while and Lollipop 5.1 is already beginning to roll out.

The Starmobile Knight Luxe is fairly affordable at Php7,690 for an octa-core smartphone, although there are a few that are priced even lower. Still, the AMOLED screen and attention paid to design may be worth paying a little extra.
