Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE Hands-on Impressions

Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE

There generally isn’t any reason to get excited over an entry level tablet like the Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE, but when it manages to pack 4G connectivity for just Php4k, it’s going to turn some heads. It may be a mouthful to pronounce its entire name, but this is one tablet that deserves a bit of notice. The Superion Radar LTE was one of the devices I got to preview at a recent blogger’s gathering and here are my impressions.

What’s in the Box?

Box Contents

Despite the large box, the Superion Radar LTE doesn’t come with many accessories. All you get are the following:

  • Tablet
  • Micro USB to USB cable
  • Wall charger
  • User Guide
  • Cherry Play Quick Start Guide

Impressions

Screen

The Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE packs a 7 inch WSVGA IPS screen. It’s not the sharpest resolution, but at least you’ll get accurate color reproduction and the actual image quality is still quite acceptable. Unfortunately, it runs on the rather dated KitKat 4.4, but the UI doesn’t seem to have been heavily modified.

Back

As far as design goes, the Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE isn’t going to win any awards. The tablet is small enough, but there is some significant heft and thickness to it. Thankfully, it feels sturdy enough with no noticeable flexing when you press against it.

Features

Features

The Superion Radar LTE is pretty basic, specs-wise, as well. You’re getting an entry level Snapdragon quad core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There’s also a 5mp camera on the back with LED flash, as well as a 2mp shooter on the front. The best part of course is that you get LTE on top of the rest of its connectivity features.

Verdict

Superion Radar LTE

The Cherry Mobile Superion Radar LTE is a capable enough tablet considering the price, but the added LTE support certainly gives it an edge over any other budget entry level tablet in the market right now. It would have been nice if it came with at least 16GB of storage, but for its Php3,999 price tag, it’s still a pretty good deal.
