Cherry Mobile FB100: More Than Just a Facebook Phone

It’s easy to dismiss the Cherry Mobile FB100 as just another gimmicky Facebook phone. However, while it’s dedicated Facebook button doesn’t do anything more than launch Facebook, it’s still worth looking at now that it’s part of so many location-specific sales. Just this payday, it’s already on sale at Fairview, Angono, Las Pinas, and Marikina, not to mention another sale prior at Robinson’s Place Manila.

It’s far from a world-beater. It packs a 5 inch HD IPS screen, 1.3GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage – just enough for the casual user to experience the benefit of most apps. It’s hard to beat its sale price though. It’s original SRP was Php2,999 but now I see it going for as low as just Php2,299.

As long as you temper your expectations considering the price, the FB100 is a perfectly serviceable entry level smartphone. You’ll just have to get used to accidentally pressing the Facebook button when navigating your phone.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
