Xiaomi Redmi 5a Now in the Philippines: So Much for Only Php4,590!

Xiaomi’s initial entry into the Philippines didn’t fare too well so this time around they’ve decided to throw out the cautious approach of a few years back and go in guns blazing. One of the first new local releases is the Xiaomi Redmi 5a, a 5 inch HD smartphone driven by a Snapdragon 425 SoC with a 1.4GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. Considering it’s getting a sticker price of just Php4,590, it’s one of the best deals you can get on an entry-level smartphone today.

The phone won’t become available until March 15 as a Lazada exclusive for the time being, but to make things even more worth the wait, Xiaomi will be slashing Php200 off the SRP for the first day. That means you’ll be able to get the Redmi 5a for just Php4,390 for a limited time only! Learn more here.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
