Cherry Mobile Cruize is Official! 5.2″ Phablet for Php4,499!

Cherry Mobile Cruize Teaser Graphic

The other day, Cherry Mobile posted a teaser graphic of something XXXL to come. Well, looks like it’s here folks. Ladies and gentlemen, please say hello to the Cherry Mobile Cruize. While it may not be the Omega that everyone was waiting for, the Cherry Mobile Cruize still has a lot going for it. It has a large 5.2 inch WVGA screen, 1GHz single core Broadcom processor, 512Mb of RAM, 4Gb of ROM and a whopping 2,500mAh battery. The specs are pretty pedestrian, but considering it has a screen of phablet proportions, you’d still be surprised that it only sells for Php4,499. Oh, and it even has dual SIM support!

The Cruize isn’t the ideal gaming phone – heck, it’ll probably be barely capable of playing any graphically intensive 3D games – but that large screen gives it plenty of benefits for the buck. First, it makes it much easier and more convenient to consume content like eBooks, web articles and movies. You’ll also have an easier time composing text messages and emails because a larger screen allows it to accommodate a roomier keyboard for fewer typing mistakes.  Finally, while the Cherry Mobile Cruize may not be able to play games like NOVA 3 or The Dark Knight Rises, it’ll still be much easier to play more casual games because of more space for the controls. Couple that with a large 2,500mAh battery (my Galaxy Note’s battery has the same capacity), and you’re looking at an Android smartphone that should last you close to 1 to 2 days.

Sure, there are some downsides to the Cherry Mobile Cruize. First, there’s that single core 1GHz processor that makes it a bit underpowered for heavier apps and games. Then there’s the relatively low WVGA (480 x 800) resolution that results in a pixel density of only 179ppi. The screen may be large, but don’t expect a lot of detail. Then again, the Cruize only retails for Php4,499. In comparison, the Cherry Mobile Flare’s SRP is Php3,999 and a lot of dealers are selling it for Php4.2k-4.5k because of the high demand for it. So if you were really looking to use the Flare as a mobile internet browsing device or glorified eBook reader, then the Cruize might be the ideal alternative for you.

  1. Sir, can you play temple run/brave dito or other running games like subway surf decently? Gawa po kayo ng hands on review dito. Looking forward to it. ^_^

    1. Sorry, I won’t be getting a Cruize that I can review. I buy the units I review for this site with my own money kasi. It’s the Omega I’m saving up for when it comes out. The Cruize is looking to be another hot phone though, so you probably won’t have trouble finding reviews. I wouldn’t mind reviewing the Cruize though, if I could get a hold of one.

        1. yes, i do 🙂 you’re getting the same battery and screen size as a galaxy note (lower resolution nga lang). if you compare it to the 6.5k titan, you’re only losing 1 core. if you compare it to the myphone a818i, you’re getting 5.2 inches of screen vs 4 inches, as well as 3g browsing. it might not be the best gaming device, but if you want something for casual gaming, reading books or surfing the net, the cruize is awesome for its price. it’s best to wait for some reviews though. baka kasi kasing buggy ng flare.

      1. Hi JMB, CM finally has a teaser for the Omega out on their FB. After all the waiting, your preferred phone is coming out soonest…If it ain’t the Omega yet, maybe my predicted Oppo Find 5 rebrand hehehe.

        1. yeah, but i’m a bit disappointed. an unofficial source said it would only have 512mb of RAM. how buttery smooth will jelly bean still be on 512mb of RAM? hehehe.

          1. Well here’s hoping it will be 1GB when CM officially releases the specs. 512MB is no longer enough.

My Blaze now has about 30+MB left as a result of the tons of apps I’ve downloaded. Although all of them were installed in SD, internal storage somehow increased everytime I installed apps, even though I haven’t opened the app. Do you know why this is so??? I’ve run memory booster & cleaner app but it the int. storage level remained the same.

    1. there’s not a lot of specific models that stand out from local brands because they all use the same basic configuration of a dual core CPU, 512mb RAM and 4gb ROM. as long as it meets those specifications, gaming should be okay.

    2. Go for the CM Blaze! I own one and I can attest to it’s gaming capability, though i have yet to install bigger APK’s like NFS, DT, etc., my Blaze kept up with the games I have downloaded so far (ie. Racing & simulation games that are above the AB, TR level). No lags at all.
