ASUS ZenPad Tablets Unofficially Revealed, 7 and 8 Inch Variants to be Announced

ZenFone this, ZenFone that. After the Zenfone series success, it seems to make sense that ASUS would want to take its popularity and hope it translates well to tablets with the new ZenPad moniker. This isn’t exactly official though, but with this new leak of the upcoming ASUS ZenPads, this is looking like it might actually turn out to be the real thing.

The upcoming ASUS ZenPads are expected to come in 2 screen sizes: 7 and 8 inches. The 8 inch ZenPad will sport rather premium specs, such as an impressive 2048 x 1536 resolution, a choice of Intel Atom processors (Z3560 or Z3450), 2GB RAM, and 8/16/32/64GB storage choices.

The Zenpad 7 will sport much watered-down specs. The resolution will be stuck at a measly WSVGA (1024 x 600), a quad core Intel Atom x3 processor, 1GB RAM, and a choice between 8 or 16GB storage variants.

Just with the ZenPad 8 alone, you can already expect a lot of SKUs to keep track of, just like the Zenfone 2. And take note, you can expect that there’ll be a choice between WiFi-only and 3G variants as well.

ASUS is expected to announce the ZenPad 7 and 8 at Computex in Taiwan this June, with the ZenPad 7 becoming available by mid-July. However, there’s no news yet as to when we might expect the ZenPad 8. Hopefully, ASUS will be able to stick to their recent habit of keeping the pricing low compared to the competition.
