Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime Finally Debuts! …in Germany

Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime

It’s been a while since the Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime was originally announced. While it certainly isn’t Cherry Mobile’s first Windows phone, it is their first phone running specifically on the Windows 10 platform. This and the fact that its selling price would surely have been within reach of the average Juan could also have made the Alpha Prime one of the more intriguing smartphones, had it actually been released.

Unfortunately, the Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime never reached local retailers’ store shelves due to issues with Windows 10’s stability. That’s changed though as it has finally made its much-awaited debut… in Germany! Yep, one of our top local brands is entering the European market beginning with Germany and the Alpha Prime was among the first phones they showcased.

Hype aside, the phone is actually quite modest. You’re getting a 5 inch HD screen coupled with a 1.1GHz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. There’s also a limited amount of storage. There’s 8GB onboard that can be expanded via microSD up to 32GB. There’s no 4G/LTE support, but it’s a dual SIM phone in case you want to take advantage of two different networks or separate your personal line from your business line.

The Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime is priced at the equivalent of $86, or just a little under Php4k. If Cherry Mobile ever decides to release the Alpha Prime here, hopefully it will be able to retain the same price point.
