Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z, Cosmos X2, Cosmos X and Cosmos S Officially Revealed

Yesterday evening, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the official launch of the Cherry Mobile Cosmos lineup of Android smartphones, four of them in total. The event was hosted by Chico and Delamar of RX93.1’s The Morning Rush, as well as Cherry Mobile brand ambassador Anne Curtis who showcased the new phones to a crowd comprised of dealers, media and the blogging community.

The Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z headlined the group, featuring a 5 inch Full HD IPS display, 1.5GHz quad core MT6589T processor, 1Gb of RAM, and 8Gb of internal storage. It also features a whopping 18Mp BSI autofocus rear-facing camera and dual SIM functionality. Incidentally, the Cosmos Z is the first time a locally branded phone has featured a Full HD screen and in itself is already a major milestone.

Next in the lineup is the Cherry Mobile Cosmos S, which likewise features a 5 inch IPS screen, though it comes with a less satisfying HD resolution. Where it lacks in screen resolution, it makes up for it with a bigger 16Gb of storage. It is also powered by a 1.5GHz quad core MT6589T processor coupled with 1Gb RAM. Imaging is handled by an 18Mp BSI autofocus rear-facing camera and 8mp front camera.

There’s also the Cherry Mobile Cosmos X2, which is the least squarish-looking of the four Cosmos phones. In fact, the design is more than a bit reminiscent of the Galaxy S3 or S4. It features a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD screen, 1.2GHz quad core MT6589 processor, 1Gb of RAM and 16Gb of internal storage. Imaging is also quite respectable with an 18Mp BSI autofocus rear-facing camera and 5Mp front camera.

Rounding out the Cosmos lineup is the Cherry Mobile Cosmos X, which sports a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED HD display coupled with a 1.2GHz quad core MT6589 processor and 1Gb RAM. Unlike the X2, the Cosmos X only has 4Gb of storage, but it too has impressive imaging capabilities with an 18Mp BSI autofocus rear-facing camera and 8mp front facing camera.

The Cosmos lineup left the impression of being really high end. All the phones had premium specs, not to mention awesome design and build quality. It will be a while before they hit stores, but you should only have to wait until mid-August for the Cosmos X and X2, then late August for the Cosmos S and Z. Stay tuned to MobileTechPinoy as I’ll be posting more detailed information on each phone within the day. On a side note, I was able to share a table with the owner of the famed Cherry Angel store in 168 Divisoria, Mr. Mary Dy Tang. In case you guys didn’t know, he has gained a bit of notoriety online among the Cherry Mobile user groups and tech blogging community because of the occasional leak of upcoming units, not to mention live shots of the actual phones and tablets, along with sample shots and benchmark results. Check out Cherry Angel on Facebook if you have a phone you’re interested in buying or learning about, as well as catch some of the stuff he shares online. Nice meeting you sir!
