Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0, Blaze 2.0 and More Revealed on Thailand Website

It appears that Cherry Mobile has ambitions of reaching out beyond the Philippine market and into neighboring Asian territories. Now it seems that they have a website that has gone live and is aimed at the Thailand market, and they even have some new models that we have yet to see here in the Philippines. Some of the new models include the Blaze 2.0, Flare 2.0, Thunder 2.0 and Superion TV 2.0.

Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0

Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0

The Flare 2.0 is likely to be the most interesting of the bunch since it’s the successor of one of the most popular locally-branded smartphones that was released to market. It sports a similar screen as the original Flare with a resolution of 480 x 800 (WVGA) but is powered by a beefier 1.2GHz quad core processor. The RAM has been bumped up to 1Gb but Cherry Mobile has continued to stick with 4Gb ROM that is common of most budget smartphones these days. If there’s anything not to like about the Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0, it’s that it will only come with a 1,500mAh battery.

Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 Specs

  • 4 inch WVGA screen (480 x 800, 233ppi)
  • 1.2GHz quad core CPU
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 1Gb RAM
  • 4Gb ROM, expandable up to 32Gb via micro SD
  • 5mp autofocus rear-facing camera, VGA front camera
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G/HSDPA
  • GPS
  • 1,500mAh battery

Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0

Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0

The Blaze 2.0 is another interesting update, mainly because it is such a drastic jump in screen size compared to the original Blaze. While the first Blaze only sported a 4.7 inch FWVGA screen, the Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 sports a monstrous 5.7 inch HD IPS screen. At that screen size, it might have made more sense to call it the Titan 2.0, but hey, they can do whatever they want I guess. Anyway, the Blaze 2.0 sports some similarly updated specs in the form of a 1.2GHz quad core CPU, Jelly Bean 4.2, 1Gb RAM and 4Gb ROM. It will come with a nicely-sized 2,500mAh battery, but only a proper review will tell if it will be enough to power such a monstrous screen for a whole day.

Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 Specs

  • 5.7 inch HD IPS screen (720 x 1280, 258ppi)
  • 1.2GHz quad core CPU
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 1Gb RAM
  • 4Gb ROM, expandable up to 32Gb via micro SD
  • 12mp autofocus rear-facing camera, 3mp front camera
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G/HSDPA
  • GPS
  • 2,500mAh battery

Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0

Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0

If there’s anything that should be a proper successor to the Blaze 2.0, it’s the Thunder 2.0, but maybe that’s just me. The refreshed Thunder 2.0 sports a 5 inch FWVGA screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor. It manages to run Android 4.2 out of the box, but it’s only listed as having 512Mb of RAM and 4Gb ROM. Sounds like a bit of a downer to me. It also has a mediocre 5mp rear-facing camera and 2mp front camera for basic imaging needs and it should last the day with its 2,100mAh battery. This one will have to be priced right when it gets here since it certainly doesn’t plan to compete in terms of specs.

Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0 Specs

  • 5 inch HD IPS screen (480 x 854, 196ppi)
  • 1.2GHz quad core CPU
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 512Mb RAM
  • 4Gb ROM, expandable up to 32Gb via micro SD
  • 5mp autofocus rear-facing camera, 2mp front camera
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G/HSDPA
  • GPS
  • 2,100mAh battery

Cherry Mobile Superion TV 2.0

Cherry Mobile Superion TV 2.0

Finally, to round out this round of new reveals, we have the Cherry Mobile Superion TV 2.0. The Superion TV 2.0 is a refresh to the original Superion TV. To be honest, not much has changed except that it now has a dual core processor, as opposed to a single core one. It will still give you telephony features and mobile TV on a tablet, but this time it supports 3G, whereas the original Superion TV only supported 2G speeds. The WVGA resolutions is pitiful in my opinion, but if they can price this right once it gets here, it might still appeal to the budget-minded masses.

Cherry Mobile Superion TV 2.0

  • 7 inch HD IPS screen (480 x 854, 196ppi)
  • 1.GHz quad core CPU
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 512Mb RAM
  • 4Gb ROM, expandable up to 32Gb via micro SD
  • 2mp autofocus rear-facing camera, VGA front camera
  • Bluetooth
  • WiFi
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G/HSDPA
  • GPS
  • 3,000mAh battery

While it’s yet to be confirmed if these new units will actually make it to the Philippine market or that the Cherry Mobile Thailand website is indeed affiliated with Cherry Mobile Philippines, I can confirm that Cherry Mobile does indeed have plans of expanding beyond the Philippines. Based on past conversations with trusted contacts, they have intentions of expanding into at least three new territories, and it now appears that Thailand will be one of them. If there’s anything good that we can benefit from this, it’s that we can hopefully get fresh updates on upcoming models prior to their release from Cherry Mobile’s offshore locations.

  1. No s–t! CM has expanded outside the Philippines. This is awesome news!!! I congratulate them for doing it and wish them the best of success. As to the phones, my fixation is on the Blaze 2.0 – 1″ inch more than my 4-month old Blaze 1.0 hahaha. I need that 1GB RAM badly now. But i’ll just admire it because what I’m going for is a tablet, and i’m waiting for Cherry to come up with Fusion Bolt 2.0 or something better. I hope it comes out soon – the way my kids “borrow” my Blaze to play games, early in the morning before I leave for work, and when I get back home, December is just too far away for me to leave them a tablet w/c they could play around all day, while i’m away. Ahoy CM, hurry up with the FuBO 2.0 hehehe.
