Cherry Mobile Fusion Breeze, Fusion Storm and Superion Explorer Officially Announced

Cherry Mobile just announced a slew of tablets in time for the holiday shopping season, and the best part is, they’re all under Php5k! Of course, a budget price tag means you’re not getting top of the line screens or performance. Let’s check out the specs to see if they’re still worth getting.

Fusion Breeze

Fusion Breeze

The Cherry Mobile Fusion Breeze is a 7 inch tablet powered by a single core processor. If the design seems familiar, that’s because it’s probably the same OEM device as those Haipads that sell in Quiapo, Divisoria, and even in Lazada. The bad news? It sports a WVGA screen and 1.2GHz single core processor. The good news? The OEM device it’s based on is actually one of those universally popular models in the market and you won’t have a hard time finding accessories that fit. Oh, and it costs just Php1,999.

Fusion Breeze Specs

  • 7″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen
  • 1.2GHz single core processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • Android Jelly Bean
  • 4GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via micro SD
  • 1.3mp front camera
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • Price: Php1,999

Fusion Storm

Now, if you’re looking for a larger screen and faster internals on a budget, the Cherry Mobile Fusion Storm might be more to your liking. It features a 7.85 inch screen, 1.2GHz dual core processor, and a design that’s more aesthetically pleasing. In fact, the side bezels kind of mimic the iPad Mini, so it’s physically smaller and more comfortable to hold compared to other 8 inch tablets. Other key specs include 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, dual cameras (5mp rear, VGA front), and WiFi b/g/n. It also runs Android Jelly Bean out of the box and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

  • 7.85″ capacitive touchscreen
  • 1.2GHz dual core processor
  • Android Jelly Bean
  • 512MB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via micro SD
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • 5mp main camera
  • VGA front camera
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Price: Php3,699.

Superion Explorer

Superion Explorer

Now, if it’s a 3G capable tablet that you’re looking for, Cherry Mobile has one for you too. The Cherry Mobile Superion is your basic budget 7 incher, but what’s neat about it is that it sports a complete set of wireless connectivity features consisting of 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and even GPS. It’s also powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor, which is the same one that’s featured on the much-loved Cherry Mobile Flare. So how much for this WiFi enabled tablet? Php4,499. It’s so cheap, I’d pick it up and just use it as a GPS device for the car.

Superion Explorer Specs

  • 7 inch capacitive touchscreen
  • 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8225 SoC
  • Adreno 203 GPU
  • Android Jelly Bean
  • RAM/internal storage: TBA
  • 3G/HSPA
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS with A-GPS
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Price: Php4,499

Unfortunately, there are still a few missing details, such as the resolution, the battery capacity of the Fusion Breeze, and the RAM/storage configuration of the Superion Explorer. I’m willing to bet though that the Fusion Breeze will sport a WVGA display while the Fusion Storm will have an XGA screen. I’d also guess that the Superion Explorer will have a WVGA screen, but this is Cherry Mobile we’re talking about, so who knows what kind of magic they’ll pull off at that price. I’m a little skeptical of the Superion Explorer as the RAM/storage configuration hasn’t been revealed. 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage is perfectly acceptable at that price, but any lower and I’ll say skip this one.
