A couple of days ago, Cherry Mobile officially launched the Flare 2.0, which is now the most affordable quad core smartphone in the Philippine market. However, the local phone brand also revealed that there were still two more smartphones that will be revealed in Q4 of this year. The Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 was dubbed Project Y, while the yet-to-be released phones are codenamed Project X and Project Z.
Not much is known yet about the two phones except for some rumors. According to what’s been floating around on the interwebz, one of them will basically be the same as the Flare 2.0 with a quad core processor and 4″ WVGA screen. However, it will have 1GB of RAM instead of just 512MB and an 8mp camera instead of just an 8mp shooter. The other one will be similar to the Flare 2.0 as well, having 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, but with a larger 4.5″ FWVGA screen rather than just a 4 incher.
The rumors originated from a post by a popular and reliable tipster who promptly took them down shortly after. However, it was posted long enough for people to pick up and get the rumors started. Based on the leaked information, the 4 incher with 1GB RAM will be called the Cherry Mobile Flare 2X while the 4.5 incher will be called the Cherry Mobile Burst 2.0.
Interestingly, that’s not all. Aside from the Cherry Mobile Project X and Z phones, there will be another one called the Cherry Mobile Apollo. According to the leak, the Apollo will be a higher end phone, sporting a 4.5″ HD screen with a crazy-high pixel density of 326ppi. To put things in perspective, that’s as crisp as the display of the iPhone 5S. In addition, it will also sport a 1.2GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, and 12mp primary camera.
For now, we’re going to have to take these rumors with a grain of salt since none of these handsets have been revealed yet. Still, it won’t be a long wait for at least two of these phones as they will be coming out in Q4 of this year, which is anywhere from October to December.

Well and good. But I feel all this projects do not offer any groundbreaking feature technically speaking. Instead it’s the price-spec combo, as in higher-than-average spec at a lower price (4-6K). What I’m waiting for is Bolt 2.0.
Why not released service support 2.0 instead of releasing new phones. Duh!
