Cherry Mobile Superion Odyssey: 7.85″ Screen, Quad Core CPU and 3G

Cherry Mobile Superion Odyssey with Charger

Cherry Mobile recently announced the availability of one of their better tablets this year. The Cherry Mobile Superion Odyssey features a 7.85 inch IPS display, 1.2GHz quad core CPU and most importantly, 3G connectivity. The price? Php7,499.

The display certainly can’t be said to be crappy as it’s an IPS panel, but the resolution is a little on the low side at 768 x 1024. It’s not that bad as I’ve experienced something similar myself on the Kata FishTab 3. Heck, the iPad Mini gets away with XGA resolution just fine and it should be good enough even for reading comics and manga.

Antutu System Information

The Superion Odyssey is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core MT8389 processor coupled with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU. There’s also 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The combination is powerful enough to score a 12,973 in Antutu. It’s not the most powerful SoC out there, but it should be good enough to make navigating through Android 4.2 feel as smooth as butter.

The final selling point is the 3G connectivity, which allows you to browse the internet without having to be tethered to a WiFi hotspot. And because it uses a SIM, you can use the Superion Odyssey for calling and texting too. Not bad when you consider the closest competitors in its price point don’t have 3G.

Looking to grab the Cherry Mobile Superion Odyssey this Christmas? I wouldn’t be surprised since there isn’t another tablet in the local market with these specs at the same price point.

  1. Any news when Storm & Voyager is coming out? 7.5K is enough for me to get 2 of CM’s aforementioned tabs, one for myself and one for my kids. Nevermind if it’s non-IPS.
