Cloudfone Thrill 530qx Laughs at Your Power Bank with its 4,500mAh Battery

I don’t know about you, but in my opinion, Cloudfone’s first claim to fame was with the Cloudfone Thrill 430x. It was your typical dual core ICS smartphone at the time, except that it featured a monstrous 4,160mAh battery that could power the phone for two to three days, even under heavy usage! Since then, I was curious if any of the other local brands would come out with something similar, but it seems that Cloudfone is the only one that realizes how much of a premium people put on battery life. And it seems they’ve just come out with the sequel to the successful Thrill 430x. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Cloudfone Thrill 530x.

So what’s the difference between the two? There’s the battery capacity for one. The Thrill 430x only featured a 4,160mAh battery while the new Thrill 530qx is equipped with a larger 4,500mAh battery. And while the Thrill 430x only featured a 4.3″ screen, the Cloudfone Thrill 530qx features a phablet-sized 5.3″ IPS screen. The qHD resolution is a bit disappointing though since it results in a low pixel density of 208ppi, but hey, at least it’s not WVGA.

As for the chip, the Cloudfone Thrill 530qx is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589M SoC. It’s pretty capable, although compared to the MT6589, the PowerVR SGX 544 GPU isn’t clocked as fast (156MHz vs 286MHz). Multitasking should be a breeze for the Thrill 540qx as it comes with 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is pretty limited though at 4GB. User accessible storage will probably be pegged at around 2.6GB, but at least it comes with a micro SD slot so you can expand it further up to 32GB.

Other features include a 12mp autofocus camera on the back, a 5mp wide angle camera on the front, 3G/HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. There are even some neat software features like smart gestures and pop up play for videos. All in all, it’s a fairly well-rounded smartphone that slightly compromises the display quality in favor of massive battery life. Looking to pick one up? It retails for Php9,999 and should be available in the market shortly.
