The Gionee Elife S5.1 is one of the thinnest smartphones in the world, beating out its predecessor, the Elife S5.5 by an astounding 0.4mm! While it did hold the record for world’s thinnest smartphone for a short while (there’s even a Guinness World Record Certification to prove it!), it didn’t take long for a couple of other smartphones to beat it. However, that doesn’t mean the Elife S5.1 isn’t a marvel of engineering without that title.
If the Elife S5.5 was about as thick as three 1 peso coins stacked on top of each other, obviously, the Elife S5.1 is even thinner. If you hold it against a moving background, the phone even disappears from sight! And it still manages to pack some respectable hardware!
The Gionee Elife S5.1 packs a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display to go along with a 1.7GHz octa core MT6592 processor by MediaTek. There’s also 1GB RAM for adequate multitasking under normal usage and ample 16GB storage for your apps, media, and other files. It forgoes the aluminum construction and layers of Gorilla Glass on either side that its predecessor sported. However this equates to an even thinner and lighter body that makes only a few compromises.
