Meizu MX4G: What in the Singular F*ck Would You Do with 543ppi?!!

Back in June 2010 when the iPhone 4 was announced, the late Steve Jobs said that its Retina display with its 326ppi had such a high pixel density that the human eye would no longer be able to differentiate individual pixels from a typical viewing distance. So when 5 inch displays popping up with Full HD resolution and pixel densities of 441ppi and more, I thought what a waste of pixels. Now it seems that Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has plans of releasing a phone by the name of the Meizu MX4G with a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1536 and pixel density of 543ppi. Seriously?

The specs haven’t been fleshed out yet, but there are currently only two SoCs that are capable of handling an Ultra HD screen, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and the MediaTek MT6592. Seeing as the current generation Meizu MX3 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 5410 octa core processor, we can’t count out Samsung either.

Anyway, it’s still a while a way until we’ll actually see the Meizu MX4G, but my question is what the heck are you going to do with image clarity that’s too good to even appreciate?

  1. whatever it’s good for, one thing remains clear – the more the ppi, the higher the price. Ha-he-hu…Great T*tle btw.
