MyPhone’s Next Phone Could be a Rebranded Micromax Canvas 4!

Thanks to a recent leak, we now know that MyPhone has an upcoming model hiding in its sleeves. However the source didn’t reveal anything much save for a few tidbits that you can read about here. Well, I did a bit of detective work (aka read some comments and Googled) and have a good clue as to what the next MyPhone might be: a rebranded Micromax Canvas 4 A210.

MyPhone Micromax Canvas 4 Side View

It’s no secret among MyPhone fans that the local phone brand likes to source many of its Android phones from the same Chinese OEM as Micromax. Micromax is a popular phone brand in India, much in the same way that MyPhone is in the Philippines, and we’ve already seen a number of phone being licensed by both brands for sale in their respective countries, such as the MyPhone A919i Duo, which turned out to be the same OEM device as the Micromax A116 HD.

So it makes sense to check out Micromax first for any upcoming phones that MyPhone has yet to release. And it didn’t take long to find a good candidate for MyPhone’s next phone. Because while the recent leak didn’t have that much information, it did show a great view of the left side of the phone. So all I did was search among Micromax’s most recent phones and compared the left side of each device with the previously leaked image. It just so happens that it matches perfectly with the Micromax Canvas 4 A210.

Based on that information, we should now have a good idea of the specs. The Micromax Canvas 4 features a 5 inch HD IPS screen with a resolution 720 x 1280 and pixel density of 294ppi, which puts it in line with the best locally-branded quad core phones. It’s powered by a quad core 1.2GHz MT6589 chipset and comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Thankfully, storage is expandable up to 32GB via micro SD unlike the MyPhone Iceberg.

Other specs include a 13mp autofocus rear-facing camera by Sony with LED flash, 5mp front camera with HD recording, up to 3.5G/HSPA+, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS and a 2,000mAh battery. There’s also a strong possibility that this next MyPhone will support gesture-based features like Clever Motion since the Micromax Canvas 4 has a suite of such features of its own.

Keep in mind that this is only speculation on my part, and I’ve been wrong about these things before (anyone remember the Dragon Phone 2.0?). Still, we at least have a better idea of what the specs of the upcoming MyPhone model might be. The only thing left is the name. MyPhone Vortex, anyone?
