So there are octa-core smartphones and there are octa-core tablets, but how come there aren’t any octa-core Android media players and TV boxes? Tronsmart, a lesser known electronics brand, plans to remedy that with the Transmort Draco AW80, an Android TV Box powered by the Allwinner A80 octa-core processor.
Interestingly though, it isn’t just the octa-core SoC that makes the Tronsmart Draco AW80 Android TV Box unique. It happens to come in two variants, one of which is equipped with 4GB RAM! The 4GB RAM model also comes with a whopping 32GB of storage, so if you’re looking for a capable media player with console quality graphics, this one is for you.
The more affordable variant isn’t so shabby either. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, which isn’t that much of a downgrade anyway.
At the moment, both variants of the Tronsmart octa-core Android TV Box can only be bought through Geekbuying. The 2GB/16GB model is already available for $149 while the more capable and expensive 4GB/32GB variant is on pre-sale for $199 (SRP $249.19). Itching to get one? Keep in mind you’ll be paying for import duties and taxes as well to get either one into the Philippines.
