Cherry Mobile Action Cam Explorer 2 is Powered by Android!

It’s been a while since we first spotted the Cherry Mobile Action Cam Explorer 2 when it was given a surprise unveil in Germany. The GoPro-inspired action cam runs Android, interestingly enough, so its specs read similar to a smartphone. It’s pretty inexpensive too, at just Php5,999!

The Action Cam Explorer 2 has a 170 degree wide angle lens and is capable of taking 12mp shots and up to Full HD video capture. There’s a 2.4 inch LCD screen for navigating the UI and previewing captured images and video. It’s also driven by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6580 quad core processor and comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

While the imaging capabilities haven’t been upgraded from Cherry Mobile’s first generation Explorer, the Explorer 2 is certainly an interesting upgrade now that it runs Android. Interested? It’s now available nationwide.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
