How much computing can you get for about Php8k? If it’s an Android tablet or Chromebook, you can still get something pretty respectable. However, the newly announced HP Stream Mini is really pushing how much PC you can get for your buck, retailing for just $180. That’s about Php8k after straight conversion and is about how much you’d expect to spend on a decent Android tablet, not a desktop PC.
But that’s exactly what the HP Stream Mini is, powered by a low power Intel Celeron CPU with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. Since local storage is extremely limited, you also get a couple of year’s subscription to Microsoft OneDrive, giving you an extra 200GB of cloud storage.
Now, if you’re looking for something with more power and storage, there’s the HP Pavilion Mini, which is essentially the Stream Mini but with a Core i3 processor and at least 320GB of storage. There’s also a variant with 1TB storage if you really want to avoid the cloud.
The HP Stream Mini and Pavilion Mini aren’t just small, they’re also pretty minimal in design. There are a couple of USB ports and a power button up front and with a few more USB ports in the back to go along with display and audio ports. Another great reason to get these micro PCs? They get by on just 45 watts of power.
Both are set to go on sale by January 14. However, this is for select markets only and there’s no indication yet if we might see this locally. Still, the fact that the low price point would be appealing here, and if HP doesn’t decide to sell either Mini PC here, other PC makers likely will.
