Gionee Elife E6: Overcoming the “Made in China” Stigma

It wasn’t too long ago that people would frown on anything made in China. I remember that when I would tag along with my dad on an errand and he would pick up something with the words “made in China” on it, we automatically assumed it was of substandard quality or poorly executed. While the stigma still lingers among consumers today, Chinese smartphone makers have worked hard to eradicate, and Gionee has been at the forefront of all that.

Being one of China’s top mobile phone manufacturers, Gionee Communication Equipment Co. Ltd. has invested heavily to ensure that their products offer a lot of value, which I was able to witness firsthand at the official Elife E6 launch.

“Gionee’s focus on Research and Development, and innovation is in keeping with its promise to customers to produce the best mobile phone products that are affordable and packed with useful features so they can do more with less,” Gionee Mobile Philippines head Katrin Salanga-Gregorio said during her speech at the recent launch.

The Elife E6 comes with a number of software tricks that add to its value as well. Its motion sensing technology lets a user easily operate the phone through motion gestures, when answering or declining a call, browsing through photos or controlling volume.

“In Gionee, trust me when I say that quality is experienced in every handset.  It offers features that are products of its own well-funded research and development that continues to update, upgrade, and innovate.  The strict manufacturing process of every mobile phone will definitely bust the myth of the ‘Made in China’ bias” Gregorio emphasized.

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
