Cherry Mobile Hyper Leaked on Facebook: Dual Core Phablet for Php4,999!

After having just launched the Fusion Bolt, Flame 2.0 and Omega HD, you would think that Cherry Mobile would take a bit of a break before introducing yet another handset. Thankfully, the local phone brand isn’t the type to sit on their butts that long and it appears that they are poised to introduce yet another budget Android phone that will certainly appeal to the price-sensitive masses. Check out the image below to behold the Cherry Mobile Hyper!

Cherry Mobile Hyper from Leaked Flyer

At first glance, the 5 inch Cherry Mobile Hyper closely resembles the original Titan. However, there are a few subtle differences between them. First is that the front facing camera is on the right side, rather than on the left, such as with the Titan TV. There’s also the slightly different menu button along the bottom with the other navigation keys. Even the specs resemble each other, sporting a familiar configuration, although this time the Hyper is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset while the Titan had the Mediatek MT6577.

There are some missing details that I’m sure budget-minded smartphone buyers would be eager to learn, such as the type and resolution of the 5 inch display, the amount of RAM and battery capacity. In all likelihood, it might be another WVGA or FWVGA screen, which is the typical resolution of many locally-branded phones. Of course, with the recent launch of the Flame 2.0 and Omega HD, maybe now is the start of qHD resolution screens becoming the norm. At Php4,999, I’m also not expecting more than 512Mb RAM and at least a 2,000mAh battery, but who knows? Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough when the Cherry Mobile Festival Sale begins on April 6.

The flyer was first leaked on Facebook by Cherry Angel, a known Cherry Mobile retailer with an outlet in 168 mall. They typically do a good job of getting their hands on the first batch of stocks and informing Cherry Mobile user communities on Facebook about stock availability, so they’ve always been a good source of information. Many thanks to them for giving permission to use the image above for this post.

    1. Yeah, I’m thinking this might just be a 5 inch Thunder or something. Not expecting anything mindblowing at Php5k, but as long as the specs are decent, this should still be a compelling buy.

      1. Took the plunge and got a Hyper. Nice matt blue back cover, much more tasteful than the white which looks like an add on.
        Seems to have 1GB RAM.
        So far so good.

  1. i got the white one for the wifey. it does have 1GB of Ram plus it’s already rooted! display screen is not IPS though… nevertheless, definitely a bang for the buck phablet.

  2. This phablet is good. U can even install the hacked Facebook Home but lags it much. It is already rooted. U dont need extra SDcard as with any tablets. Scores 6100+ to Antutu BMs inching behind Asus Transformer with 6300- score. A few occasional lags experienced. I do get to experience weak wifi signal reception compared to my Lenovo A60+. Battery life is not really good. Been charging completely overnyt and used it since 630am only to find it drained by 630PM. Resolution is not that crisp looks like my Lenovo A60+ just blown to bigger screen. Gaming is superb but of course lags still occur. The phone casing isnt sturdy. Careful with water it can get into the sides easily. Price is its most powerful asset. Dont expect a very nice packaging though (mine was wrapped with a Christmas wrapper lol). If you have fingers enuf to hold it fully then make it firmly (u wished for a phablet remember). I wished it had a hole for wrist latches though. Anyway im enjoying it and i believe u would. It has no CWM but it does have recovery mode that can install cust roms perhaps in the future. 🙂
