In case you guys missed it, the KitKat has finally started rolling out for a lot of MediaTek-based devices. So it makes sense that a number of manufacturers would finally start working on getting it on their phones. One such manufacturer is Gionee, and it seems that one of their devices was spotted online running their custom Amigo OS on top of KitKat 4.4.

Gionee KitKat Update

While it’s possible that this could be an update for an older phone, the fact that the Model number has been blacked out would lead one to believe that it’s for a yet-to-be announced phone. Unfortunately, the size of the bezels give off the impression that this is a low-mid range phone that we’re seeing. But at least some we’re seeing a wider availability of KitKat, right?

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
