With dual SIM phones being such a key selling point in developing markets like the Philippines, it makes sense for some phone makers to introduce dual SIM variants of their most popular phones. One such device is the ASUS Fonepad. It has done surprisingly well in the local market, managing to even beat out the Memopad 7HD in sales volume, which is why it’s getting a dual SIM makeover in the form of the ASUS Fonepad 7.
The ASUS Fonepad 7 doesn’t differ much from the original Fonepad specs-wise. You’re getting the same 7 inch WXGA HD IPS screen, 1.2GHz dual core Intel Atom Z520 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Also, because it’s a Fonepad, it supports up to 3.75G/HSPA+ data speeds, not to mention calling and texting just like a normal phone. The biggest surprise? The ASUS Fonepad 7 is actually cheaper than the original Fonepad at Php8,995 (vs Php9,995)!
For a branded tablet, the ASUS Fonepad 7 offers a lot of value while delivering specialized features that cater to developing markets like the Philippines.
