Cherry Mobile Omega HD Gets Officially Launched

Cherry Mobile Omega HD

Things are looking good for Cherry Mobile as they continue to bring smartphones with mid-high end specs at budget prices. This has been key to their success as of late, especially with most of us Pinoy consumers being so price sensitive. Now, they are bringing a new and compelling option that many smartphone buyers will likely have on their lists in the months to come. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Cherry Mobile Omega HD!

True to its name, the Cherry Mobile Omega HD sports a 5 inch HD screen, and the good news is that it’s an IPS panel with Dragontrail Glass Technology. So you’ll be able to enjoy sharp images with accurate and rich colors that can be viewed from virtually any angle. Oh, and it’s scratch-proof too!

The Cherry Mobile Omega HD is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with 1Gb of RAM to go with 4Gb of internal storage. It will also launch with Jelly Bean, which adds a few more refinements and functionality to ICS, the most notable being richer notifications, Google Now and Project Butter optimizations.

Cherry Mobile even tops the cake by including a high end 12mp primary camera to go along with a 2mp front-facing shooter. And it’s no ordinary sensor on those front and back shooters. They have BSI (Backside Illuminated) sensors, which performs much better, especially in lower light conditions.

Certainly not a bad offering if you’re looking to get the most for your moolah. In fact, it’s one of the best bang for buck smartphones that you’ll be getting at Php7,999, putting offerings from other local brands to shame. Still, it’s more expensive than your typical locally branded smartphone, so don’t expect it to sell as well as the Cherry Mobile Flare did back then.

  1. Oh man, if this came out last December 2012, there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll buy it. 50/50 because 8K is a lot of cash. 50/50 because the specs are way above the current crop. Oh well, i’ll pass this one, but whatever Full HD, Quad, 2GB that CM outs come December 2013 will get my attention & cash.

      1. 101% agree on that one. That’s why i’m holding out. I just can’t upgrade to the latest model that comes out, no matter how better or cheaper it is. Still, looking forward to your review of O-HD, i’m sure reading it will make my day.

  2. Hi JM! Is this now available in local stores? Any plans of making a full review? 😀

I’ve been out of luck trying to get a Blaze btw. With all these new models out, I’m starting to think there might be something better out there. My budget’s around 4-7k, would you still recommend the Blaze compared to the others? Or should I just wait and shell out for the Omega HD? Thoughts please? 🙂 Thanks!!!

    1. Hi Dana! The Omega HD is worth waiting for. I won a unit and I’ll be receiving it in a week so I’ll be able to make a full review. It’ll be available by April. Ganda ng screen and build quality. Even if it has a 5 inch screen, the body itself is very light and slim. Parang Blaze lang ang laki! I can’t stop gushing over it, haha. 8k nga lang, so it’s up to you if it’s worth it. Look out for my hands on preview later today or tomorrow, then the full review in a couple of weeks. Nice hearing from you again 🙂

  3. They alwasy forget to mention battery capacity which is considered one of the most important specs of a phone..so sad.

  4. Aabangan ko po yung review niyo :)) Aabangan ko rin kung maganda maganda ang quality ng camera 🙂 God bless sir 🙂

  5. cant wait for this phone, im already totally satisfied with my CM Blaze as of the moment kac decent din yung performance nya pwera nalang sa battery na sobrang bitin (3X a day charging ako at average) cant w8 for your full review : )

    1. hi Jm just bought my unit last night superrrrrrrrrr impressed ako. very noticeable ung side bezel nya na sobral nipis. hats off ako sa CM sa unit na to. kung may mapapalabas silang quad core na version nito mas hanep pa

      1. yep, i just got mine yesterday as well. bezel talaga ang unang mapapansin right after the screen itself, hehe. pang high end flagship ang build quality 🙂 looking forward to how the other local brands will react. starmobile already has the diamond out, sana may mga sumunod pa na magaganda din tulad ng Diamond and OHD 🙂

      1. Thanks. I’m thinking to buy A919 now. May nakita ko sa 5,999 nagbebenta yon. Halos pareho kasi sila except yun camera lang, pati RAM na hidndi ko magagamit. May noise reduction pa yun MyPhone. Sa tingin nyo, what do you think?

        1. Php5,999 is not a bad deal kaso take note na last year’s specs na po yan. If that isn’t an issue then go for it. Maganda naman ang build quality nya.

        2. Hi Sarged, as someone who has an a919, I would stick to cherry phones. mapapansin mo na less fluid ang UI ng myphone a919 compared to cherry-i have the blaze. also, personally, mas nagagandahan ako sa build ng CM. just my 0.02 🙂

  6. I planned to buy huawei y300 what you had posted last time! huawei is well known chinese brand and I do have Ideos X2 and ascend y200d, one thing that bothers me compare the cherry omega HD, though they said that these are the specs, but i doubt if the said omega hd will function well. 12mpx but mybe the result is quite low than 12mpx quality. My officemates bought flare, titan and cruze. im dissappointed with the screen and camera as well…

  7. btw guys pls post also reviews about huawei y300…I’d been waiting on that phone to be available in our area.

    1. If screen and camera quality are your priorities, go for the OHD. If gaming and overall performance is your preference, go for the Skyfire 2.0.
