Tired of all that Cherry Mobile news? Here’s something that will have all you iOS fans salivating. Phillip Elmer-Dewitt of Fortune Magazine has reported that invites for the launch event of the much-rumored iPad Mini will be going out on October 10. Elmer-Dewitt’s source is supposed to be a major Apple investor who, in turn, heard it from “multiple sources”.
There have been a lot of rumors about the iPad Mini lately, mostly that it will sport a 7.85″ screen and run on internals that are similar to the iPad 2. Also, prior to the iPhone 5 launch just last month, there had been some speculation that the iPad Mini would be getting its own separate launch event in October.
This latest news bears some significance because it appears to confirm much of what we think we know about the iPad Mini. Traditionally, Apple has always held launch events a week after sending out the invites, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the iPad Mini launch event were to be on October 17, with the release to the market beginning another week after that.
While it should be kept in mind that these are just rumors, Apple has been really bad at keeping secrets lately, with the most obvious example being the iPhone 5. Anyway, we’ll be finding out soon enough – by October 10 at the latest.
