As if PLDT Home Fibr didn’t already appeal to consumers because of its ridiculously fast speeds, it’s now being offered with Cignal Digital TV so that subscribers can enjoy watching through either Clickplay Cignal Digital TV. PLDT Home had already launched a partnership with Clickplay earlier in the year as a provider of movie streaming services to consumers. This latest partnership with Cignal Digital TV strengthens the vision of a connected home, adding a direct-to-home satellite TV service that consumers can also enjoy simultaneously.
I recently had the pleasure of attending the launch event of the PLDT Home and Cignal Digital TV partnership a few days ago at the Buddha Bar in Makati. There I was able to experience PLDT Home Fibr speeds firsthand while playing around with the newest PLDT Telpad. while DJ Tenashar mixed beats in the background. While I was at it, DJ Tenashar was mixing beats in the background, which I didn’t mind at all. I should mention that she also models 🙂
Anyway, I got to play around with the different services offered through the PLDT Home Triple Play service, starting off of course with the free WiFi. I can’t say how many people were at the actual launch event, but there were three or four Fibr-powered hotspots available at any one time. What impressed me was that despite the number of simultaneously connected people to any one of these hotspots, the Clickplay service streamed very smoothly to the PLDT Telpad that one of the models was demoing for us.
I also got to watch Taken 2 via Cignal Digital TV’s direct-to-home satellite TV service. In case you guys weren’t aware. Cable TV in the Philippines is actually quite primitive and the kind of equipment in use in many households is actually considered legacy technology in more developed countries like the US. Satellite TV by itself is nothing new and it’s actually been available in the Philippines for some time now, but this partnership with PLDT Home Fibr gives Pinoys access to the kind of bundled services that more developed countries have been enjoying.
PLDT Home Fibr is currently available in over 600 subdivisions in key cities across the country. Some of these neighborhoods include Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, Greenhills, Cebu Royal Estate and Don Lorenzo in Davao. Plans start at Php3,500 with speeds of up to 8Mbps, while higher plans will give you access to Cignal Digital TV for free.
