Power Mac Center to Hold Photography Workshop at Subic Park Hotel

DSLRs and compact ILCs (interchangeable lens cameras) are becoming increasingly more affordable, and more and more amateur photographers are deciding to pick up one of these prosumer-grade cameras over the less-featured point-and-shoots. However a souped up camera doesn’t automatically make you a pro, and if you’re just going to run a 16mp image through an Instagram filter so it looks prettier on iPhoto, that’s a lot of money wasted on something you could have just easily have done on your smartphone’s camera.

Power Mac Center brings back its well-loved adventure photography workshop conducted by no less than multi-awarded and internationally acclaimed Australian photographer and Apple Pro Trainer, Gunther Deichmann.

A two-day workshop on basic photography and digital photo management using Apple’s  photography software Aperture will be held on February 8 and 9, 2012 at the Subic Park Hotel in Zambales. Aperture gives users powerful yet easy-to-use tools so that they can do so much more with their photos as well as manage massive libraries on Mac.

At the workshop, Deichmann will share his experiences and techniques on photography while shooting Subic’s scenic attractions. Other topics include tips on color correction and editing, making the right adjustments (when to use curves, brushes, etc), backing up files, protecting images, analyzing RAW versus JPEG, managing and sharing libraries, as well as how to work with Aperture while in the field, plus a whole lot more.

“We chose Subic because it is the perfect environment for the workshop as it offers a very beautiful and serene environment. The participants will definitely enjoy every minute of taking pictures of the area as it helps them push their artistry in photography to a higher level,” said Deichmann.

Using their digital cameras, participants will be asked to take photos, edit and critique their outputs, while learning, experiencing, understanding and maximizing the features of the Apple Aperture software.

Registration costs Php 6,500.00 per participant inclusive of 16 hours of training, meals, actual photo shoots, hands-on digital photo editing and management, and a certificate signed by Deichmann upon completing the course.

Deichmann is a certified Apple Pro Trainer for Aperture and is on the Apple Aperture Advisory Board Asia. His works, consisting of images taken in the past 35 years in over 30 countries, have been featured in many international magazines and books and graced covers including Time Magazine.
