Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph Hands On!

For the last year or so, I’ve been lusting after the ASUS Transformer T100, especially now that they’ve refreshed it with a newer processor and a choice between different color variants. With the recent unveiling of the Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph though, I’m torn. The Morph is a super affordable Windows tablet at just Php11,999 and will be available this month! I ended up giving the Alpha Morph more hands on time to help decide if I should pick this one up instead.

Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph

The Cherry Mobile Alpha Morph certainly looks the part of a productivity machine. The 10.1 inch HD screen has great color reproduction and viewing angles, although won’t give you the best in terms of pixel density, but most people won’t notice that anyway. Oh, and that Windows button at the bottom of the screen? Yeah, that works.

Keyboard

You’ve obviously noticed from the first pic that the Cherry Mobile Morph comes with a keyboard. Wait, doesn’t that make it a laptop? Well, no. The keyboard is actually part of this really neat origami flip cover accessory.

Origami Flip Cover

Unlike most flip covers that double as a stand, this origami flip cover can prop up the tablet AND make it look good. On another note, look at those ports!

Keyboard Size Comparison

Now back to that keyboard, which connects to the Alpha Morph via Bluetooth. It’s a little on the smallish size. Irwin of SwirlingOverCoffee.com lent his hand for comparison. Based on his feedback, he says that his fingers tend to trip over each other while typing.

Typing

I myself have pretty large hands and I had trouble typing on the cramped keyboard. Of course, at Php11,999, it’s still pretty damn affordable. The keyboard accessory comes bundled with it anyway and I could always use the larger Bluetooth keyboard that I already have.

      1. actually, tapos nako sa college XD pero perfect to sa mga kapatid ko haha…samantalang ako dati nag titiis sa dinosaur na pc hahahaha
planning on buying 2, para sakin(once I move out of the house 🙂 ) and 1 para sa mga kapatid ko kung kailangan nila for presentations sa college 🙂

  1. wow! best hands on review about this tablet!

after looking at thye photos, it made me realize that this is a different animal compare to the cube U100GT and the Pipo W1. I particularly like the design of the Pipo W1 because it copied (seemlessly) the surface pro 3 including magnesium metal body.

can you confirm if the body is made of metal or plastic? thank you! 🙂

  2. Wow! Best hands-on article for this device ever. Were you able to buy this? I want to see a full review sana. Thanks!

    1. Cherry Mobile will be lending a review unit soon, I just don’t know when ~.~ I’m eager to review it too 🙂

      1. I got the unit. It’s good so far! the only gripe i am having with it is the touchpad. It’s a Hit or Miss experience. other than that, the experience is great! 😉

          1. Just to share my experience: At first I was contented with it being a portable laptop, but after a while, I was looking for a way to use it as a tablet e.g. no keyboards. After days of contemplation on how I can use the cover as a tablet stand, I was finally able to make it work. For those who are interested on how I got it to work, just reply to this comment. happy playing with your Alpha Morph!

          2. sir good day. it’s been a month since your last post and tanong ko lang po if for 1 month use, marecommend mo pa rin ang morph?

I will mainly use the microsoft office as i do a lot of presentation on powerpoint.

so ok po ba to sir? hindi nag hahang? parang solid naman? concern ko kasi baka after 6 months use sira na to… hope you can enlighten me. thank you
