Cherry Mobile Desire R7 Plus: First Look

We’re beginning to see an influx of local entry-level smartphones running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and the Cherry Mobile Desire R7 Plus is among the first such handsets. Priced similarly to the Flare P1 Plus, it has a few things going for it. First is its size. With its 5.5 inch HD display, you’re getting a lot of screen real estate to play around with. You’re also getting a fingerprint scanner — something you usually only see on midrange handsets or better, not entry-level models like the Desire R7 Plus.

Cherry Mobile provided a review unit for this one as well and here are my first impressions after taking it out of the box.

The Desire R7 Plus is a nice-looking handset, thanks to its large screen, 2.5D curved glass, and faux aluminum finish. As nice as it looks, it’s actually just plastic, which is just as well since this makes it lightweight for its size.

The camera bump is rather large, which can be problematic if you don’t immediately get a case for it. To be fair though, along with the fingerprint scanner, it does lend the phone a bit of aesthetic character.

The Cherry Mobile Desire R7 Plus is just one of the phones I’ll be spending a lot of time with in the coming weeks. Look out for my full review soon!
