Lenovo Vibe X3 Officially Launched in the PH, Comes with Free VR Headset!

Lenovo-Vibe-X3

I always look forward to every iteration of Lenovo’s Vibe series because they tend to be more affordable than flagships from other brands. The newly launched Lenovo Vibe X3 is no different and it even comes with a free VR headset! We were fortunate enough to get some hands on time with it at the local launch and here’s our impressions.

Design

Interestingly, it would be accurate to describe the Vibe X3 as a more premium version of the K4 Note. They seem to share a similar design, although naturally, the Vibe X3 has a better build. There’s a noticeable heft to it thanks to its metal build.

Front

Taking a look at the device, it does appear to be a little larger than it should be even for its screen size. This is because the capacitive keys in front have to be accommodated, not to mention the front-facing loudspeakers. It w

Hardware

The company’s top spot has always been reserved for the Z series, so the Vibe X3 actually figures right at the midrange to high end level. The specs reflect the price point: 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display, Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. You’re also getting a 21/8mp rear-front camera setup, 4G LTE, and a fingerprint scanner, among other things.

One particular spec I’m interested in is its ESS Sabre 9018C2M DAC, which is one of the best audio chips that can be found on a mobile device today. Certainly not a bad addition to a phone that’s already loaded with features.

Software

Sadly, the Lenovo Vibe X3 only runs Android 5.1 Lollipop rather than Marshmallow 6.0. This is a bit of a disappointment considering many of today’s mainstream flagships already come with Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box. Of course, Lenovo has promised a software update, but you’ll have to wait until sometime in Q3 of this year.
