Despite what’s expected to be a huge announcement this 9/29, Cherry Mobile has decided to pre-empt themselves a little bit by releasing the Flare Y5. The Cherry Mobile Flare Y5 is a budget handset, designed for the new normal, at least based on the marketing material. And at just Php2,999 no doubt it will have its own appeal. So what does a little less than Php3k get you these days from the venerable local brand?

Cherry Mobile Flare Y5 Specs

Aside from the technical specs, the Flare Y5 packs interesting features, such as Family Link, which will allow parents to enforce rules on their children’s handsets, as well as dark mode to help reduce strain on the eyes. Though, they’re not anything new, this could be an indication of things to see from Cherry Mobile, particularly with anything they decide to release on 9/29.

It seems like only yesterday that this would have been a compelling buy. Of course, at just Php2,999, it still is to a certain extent. Is the Cherry Mobile Flare Y5 something you’d consider for yourself or someone else in your family? Let me know in the comments!

Back when I started MobileTechPinoy in 2012, phablets weren't a thing yet. I enjoyed the stares I got from iPhone owners whenever I whipped out my Samsung Galaxy Note at the time. I'm much more budget-conscious these days though and am perfectly fine with using phones from any of our locally brands.
