I’m a huge fan of the Galaxy Note 3’s faux leather finish. The only problem is I can’t afford that Php30+k price tag. Thankfully, the Cherry Mobile Omega Icon just came out with its own pleather finish for a fraction of the price!
For just Php6,499, the Omega Icon comes with something similar to the faux leather finish that the Galaxy Note 3 rocks on its back cover. It even mimics the Note 3’s finish down to the fake stitching along the edges.
Of course, it’s not just the finish that we’re interested in the Omega Icon for. It also comes with a 5mp front camera with its own separate LED flash. Selfies in the dark? No problem!
And the rest of the specs are pretty decent too. The Omega Icon features a 5 inch HD IPS display protected by Dragontrail glass. HD IPS displays are becoming the norm at price points under Php7k and it’s awesome that it also has scratch and shatter protection thanks to that Dragontrail glass.
Under the hood of the Cherry Mobile Omega Icon is a 1.2GHz quad core MSM8212 processor from Qualcomm. It’s a relatively new chip among locally-branded smartphones, but the performance is somewhere around that of the MT6582 by MediaTek. Expect benchmarks from Antutu to come in at around 16k.
Other specs include 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, a 13mp main camera and Android 4.3 out of the box. No word on the Cherry Mobile Omega Icon’s battery capacity, but if it comes with at least 2,000mAh, it should be decent enough.
