As many of you already know, Google partnered with a couple of our local brands to bring Android One to the Philippines. The Cherry Mobile One is one of the two and features a 4.5 inch FWVGA screen, 1.3GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage. Of course, the best thing about the Cherry Mobile One is that it runs on a version of Android that’s as close to stock as possible. It will receive future Android updates almost as soon as they become available, with Nexus devices coming first and Google Play Edition and Android One devices following shortly after.
If you own anything other than a Nexus device, you probably know how long it can take for your phone to get updated, if at all. Sure the specs aren’t anything to write home about, but at Php3,999, the Cherry Mobile One is an incredibly cost-effective phone, especially if you’d rather not wait 3 to 6 months for an update that may or may not come. I sure wish they had some higher-tiered phones join the Android One program though. It would be nice to have something like the Cherry Mobile Cosmos One Plus running the latest version of Android for a change.
