Cherry Mobile Pulse: Ang Octa Core ng Masa at Php6,499!

Cherry Mobile Pulse

Octa-core processors are seen as a premium feature on local devices, but we’ve been seeing some of these phones coming in at below the Php10K mark. However the Cherry Mobile Pulse manages to come in at for just Php6,499. My first reaction of course was a coffee-infused “are you frigging kidding me?!”

The 1.7GHz octa-core MT6592-powered Cherry Mobile Pulse comes equipped with a 5″ HD IPS screen protected by scratch and shatter-resistant Dragontrail glass, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. You also get a 13mp rear-facing camera with LED flash to go along with a 5mp front camera. Finally, you get support for up to HSPA+ speeds on mobile data as well as KitKat 4.4 out of the box.

One interesting thing you may want to look out for is the new Double Tap to Awake feature. It’s similar to phones like the LG G2 and G3 and the Gionee Elife S5.5 that allow you to quickly tap the screen twice in succession to wake it up from a sleep state. It may be just a small feature, but it allows you to save time unlocking your phone by letting you double-tap anywhere on the screen instead of having to hunt for a really slim power/lock button.

At Php6,499, the specs are surprisingly solid, especially when you consider that the Cherry Mobile Pulse comes with the standard variant of the MT6592 chip that’s clocked at 1.7GHz rather than the underclocked 1.4GHz variant that comes with the Php7,999 MyPhone Infinity Lite. I should also mention that these are basically the same specs as the O+ Air, which costs a whopping Php13,990.

At the moment, there has been no news when the Cherry Mobile Pulse will be released into the market. For now, just stay tuned for updates. Now that it’s been officially announced, it shouldn’t take too long for the Cherry Mobile Pulse to reach retailer shelves.

  1. with interpolated cameras and shitty service I’d rather buy 10k+ smartphones over this.,
    “quality comes first”

    1. Unlike the Cosmos series and their unbelievable 18mp cameras, the MT6592 has native support for 13mp resolution so there’s no reason to believe it’s interpolated. Don’t dish out hate if you haven’t tried it yet, yo.
