Cherry Mobile W900 LTE Processor Revealed!

Cherry Mobile W900 LTE Speedtest

The Cherry Mobile W900 LTE is already on sale, giving budget-minded Pinoys a more affordable means of accessing our local telco’s 4G LTE networks. However, some of you might be turned off that it’s only powered by a dual core SoC while many other locally branded smartphones are already sporting quad core processors for as little as Php4k. Well, doubt no more as Cherry Mobile has revealed on their Facebook page that the W900 LTE is actually powered by the Qualcomm MSM8960.

While it’s only a dual core chip, the Qualcomm MSM8960 powers many of last year’s international flagship phones, including the US version of the HTC One X, the 4G/3G version of the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity, and some versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3. These are devices that typically score upward of 14k+ on Antutu, which means the Cherry Mobile W900 LTE should perform slightly better than the MediaTek MT6589-based phones that have flooded the market.

LTE is typically an expensive feature to add on, but Qualcomm’s MSM8960 system-on-a-chip solution means LTE is already integrated into a single chip along with the CPU, GPU, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. This makes it slightly more affordable to include LTE as a feature. So if you had a choice between saving a few thousand bucks on the Cherry Mobile W900 LTE and spending more on an LTE phone from the likes of Samsung, LG or Nokia, which one would you pick? Let me know in the comments 🙂
