Flare Day Reveals More Android Devices Aside from the Cherry Mobile Flare

It appears that the Cherry Mobile Flare wasn’t the only budget-friendly Android device that the local company released on Flare Day. While eager customers waited in line to get their hands on the powerful yet affordable Flare, Cherry Mobile staff distributed handouts that revealed new Android phones and tablets. So if you’re having a hard time looking for a store that still has some Flare stocks leftover, these new phones and tablets might be worth checking out.

Cherry Mobile Skyfire

This is perhaps the most compelling handset out of all the new devices that were revealed in that handout. It features a large 4.7″ capacitive LCD screen, a 1GHz dual core CPU, ICS 4.0 out of the box and dual SIM functionality. While it’s more expensive than the Flare at Php5,999, you get a large (probably non-IPS) screen that rivals the size of the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3. Of course, you could spend Php500 more to get the Titan, but Titan stocks are also about depleted, and your pocket might thank you for getting a slightly smaller device that is much more pocketable. It also comes with 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a 5mp rear-facing camera with flash, FM radio, and 4Gb of ROM that is expandable up to 32Gb via MicroSD.

Cherry Mobile W300

Another compelling buy is the W300, which has a 4″ 480×800 LCD, 1GHz single core MIPS CPU, Gingerbread 2.3 and dual SIM functionality. Sure, it’s just a single core Android phone on an outdated Gingerbread OS, but it’s also Php1K cheaper compared to the Flare. The LCD is also surprisingly good with a sharpish resolution of 480×800 (WVGA), but it’s a non-IPS panel so colors aren’t that accurate and the viewing angles are rather bad. One thing that might become an issue with users is that a lot of games and a few apps aren’t compatible with the W300 because of its MIPS chipset. Owners of the Cherry Mobile Paladin will know what I’m talking about. Still, it does make a very good media player, so you’re still getting a lot of bang for your 3,000 bucks. Other key specifications include a 3mp fixed focus camera, FM radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and mobile browsing at up to 2G speeds.

Cherry Mobile Superion TV

Cherry Mobile Superion TV

Sure, you probably have a tablet that allows you to browse the web or watch movies on it, but does it allow to watch your favorite telenovelas as they air on live TV? The Superion TV sure can! Aside from coming loaded with a 7″ capacitive LCD screen, 1GHz single core CPU, and Android 4.0 out of the box, the Superion TV also has… a built in TV receiver! While this little feature might drain the battery a little faster than normal, who wouldn’t want to catch their favorite shows from the Kapuso or Kapamilya networks while commuting on the LRT? It even has a SIM slot so it can probably double as a phone! Still, it’s not clear whether it’s capable of 3G browsing, but it does also have WiFi connectivity in addition to that. There’s also a VGA camera and 4Gb of internal storage that’s expandable up to 32Gb. How much? Try Php5,999

Cherry Mobile Superion Plus Duo

Yes, this particular Cherry Mobile tablet has a name that’s a mouthful to pronounce, but it’s also one of the most powerful and feature-rich 7″ tablets the local company has ever had to offer. This being a Superion, it obviously has mobile data connectivity and a single SIM slot, so not only can it function as a phone, but you can also browse the internet on the go using its 3G connectivity. It rocks a 1GHz dual core CPU and comes with ICS 4.0 out of the box. It also has 4Gb of internal storage that’s expandable up to 32Gb via microSD, dual cameras (2mp main rear-facing camera), and WiFi. You can get it for just Php6,999.
