If you’re looking for an entry level smartphone that doesn’t compromise on a lot of features like most budget handsets do, it’s hard to go wrong with the Huawei Ascend Y300. This little bugger is equipped with a 4 inch WVGA IPS screen, a dual core 1GHz processor and Jelly Bean 4.1.1 out of the box. Best of all, it only costs Php5,490! Certainly not a bad buy when you’re looking for a budget phone but don’t want to take your chances with a local brand.
The rest of the Huawei Ascend Y300 spec sheet is pretty solid. Yeah, the RAM and ROM are pretty pedestrian at 512Mb and 4Gb respectively, however the battery is rated at 1,730mAh, which is better than a lot of other phones in its class. It’s also got a 5mp auto focus shooter and a VGA front-facing shooter for basic imaging needs. These are the kind of specs you’d expect from last year’s mid-range phones, and it’s nice to see them becoming available on an entry-level offering.

LOL. 512mb RAM isn’t so bad. But if you’re looking to upgrade from your Blaze, yeah, there aren’t too many 1gb RAM phones to choose from yet.

HuaweiPH hasn’t given any indication yet that they have rolled out the Ascend Y300 out beyond BSD SM Megamall Cyberzone, Globotel Greenbelt 1, MemoXpress shops, and Tekpone Digital in Davao.
