Yesterday, the Gionee Elife S5.5 was officially launched at the SM North EDSA Cyberzone at a launch event where not only the media were in attendance, but the public as well. The event was hosted by Giselle Sanchez while brand ambassador Ellen Adarna made a special appearance where she demoed her favorite features of the Elife S5.5, not to mention its durability when she actually dropped it from shoulder height in front of everyone watching!

Of course, it didn’t hurt that the Elife S5.5 is incredibly well-constructed with premium materials, protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides. I’ve handled a few Gorilla Glass protected devices, but I was never confident enough to do a drop test and blow away that kind of cash, but Ellen just threw out the phone a few feet away from where she was standing with little thought that she might break it!

Anyway, the Gionee Elife S5.5 is now available for an SRP of Php21,999. If you missed the launch, that means you won’t be getting it with the 1TB hard drive, but the review unit I’ve been using for the past few weeks came with its own leather case in the box so hopefully the standard retail package will include it.
