HTC Butterfly S is Officially Revealed

While Samsung has been diluting its S4 brand with four different variants, HTC has taken a more modest route by refreshing its already popular HTC One flagship with the newly outed HTC Butterfly S. The HTC Butterfly S sports a larger 5 inch 1080p display (versus the HTC One’s 4.7 inch display), a 1.9GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 process, and a startlingly large capacity 3,200mAh battery. The Taiwanese smartphone company has emerged with what they hope will be the new flagship to beat. Quite frankly, they have a lot going for them.

The HTC Butterfly S also manages to differentiate itself from competitors with features like the newly revamped Sense UI, Blinkfeed and front-facing BoomSound speakers. Whether you’re a news freak who likes to get their updates from a large number of sources or an audiophile looking for a great media-centric phone, the Butterfly S is an excellent go to phone. Then there’s the UltraPixel Camera with Zoe that has also been lifted straight off of the HTC one that Instagrammers and casual photography enthusiasts are sure to love.

The rest of the specs are what you would expect from a flagship phone these days: 2Gb RAM, 16Gb of storage and a quad band HSPA/WCDMA radio. No word yet when it will be released internationally but it’s reportedly going to start selling in Taiwan first at NT$22,900, which is roughly $766. My guesstimate on pricing for the HTC Butterfly S once it hits Philippine shores should be around Php35,000-39,000.

The HTC Butterfly S is pretty much a refresh of the popular HTC One, addressing some consumer preferences by giving it a larger screen that is on par with flagships from other brands, not to mention much better battery life. To put things in comparison, the Galaxy Note 2 only sports a 3,100mAh battery compared to 3,200mAh on the Butterfly S. If you’re looking for a smartphone that checks everything on your list of must-have features, the HTC Butterfly S is it.
