There has been an onslaught of affordable dual core Android phones from local brands like Cherry Mobile and MyPhone that have had budget-minded Pinoys eagerly taking out there wallets. While these phones have pushed the envelope for performance at an extreme budget, the experience hasn’t always been perfect. For instance, the Cherry Mobile Flare has issues with its G-sensor not being calibrated properly (Cherry Mobile is pushing out a fix pretty soon though). Sure, you can try and spend on a phone in the same price range whose manufacturers pay a little more attention to quality control, such as the Galaxy Pocket or Optimus L3, however there is a huge tradeoff when it comes to performance.
If you happen to be looking for an alternative, the Huawei T8830 might be just the phone for you. The specs aren’t groundbreaking by any means, but you’re getting a dual core ICS handset for just $104, or the equivalent of a little more than Php4,000. The rest of the specs aren’t bad either. The Huawei T8830 comes with a 4″ WVGA screen protected by Gorilla Glass, 512Mb of RAM, and a 3.2Mp shooter. Not bad!
Unfortunately, it’s only available in China at the moment, but luckily, Huawei is now an international brand, so it’s not hard to imagine the T8830 hitting Philippine shores. That price will likely go up once it gets here though due to import duties. I’ll update you guys on price and availability in case Huawei ever does decide to release it here.
