Infinix Hot Note: A Souped Up Battery Without the Souped Up Price!

Infinix Hot Note

Infinix Mobility may be a new name to the average Juan, but they’re not exactly new to the smartphone business having already penetrated the African, French, Middle Eastern, and Pakistani markets. Now, they’ve set their sights on the Philippine market via Lazada with their first offering being the Infinix Hot Note. The Hot Note may not necessarily be a high end device, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at at.

Infinix Hot Note Screen

The Infinix Hot Note features a large 5.5 inch HD screen and packs a 4,000mAh battery. Despite the large battery though, the Hot Note only measures 8.9mm thick. It also only weights 172g, so even if it does come with a large screen and battery, the Hot Note doesn’t come off as being cumbersome to use.

Battery Life

Thanks to the aforementioned 4,000mAh battery, the Hot Note should be able to last 2 days on a single charge. However, large batteries typically mean longer charging times, right? Well, the Infinix Hot Note addresses this with the ability to charge the battery 3x faster so you would only need to plug it in for 30 minutes to achieve up to 7 hours of battery life.

Performance

The Infinix Hot Note runs on an underclocked 1.4GHz MT6592 octa-core processor, which should still provide plenty of performance to run any app you throw at it. While the performance is reduced compared to the base version of the MT6592 SoC, the Hot Note should benefit from improved overall battery life.

Camera

As for imaging, the Infinix Hot Note is equipped with an 8mp autofocus camera. It’s not the highest resolution, but Infinix says it’s been optimized for better low-light shots. For selfies, you get a 2mp fixed focus camera with a 75-degree wide angle lens.

Android

Probably the only downside to the Hot Note is that it’s driven by Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It’s a few updates behind, although most of today’s Android smartphones still run on KitKat 4.4 anyway. Still, it would have been nice to have Lollipop 5.1 instead.

Color Options

The Infinix was previously slated for an October or November release through Lazada. Unfortunately, it’s been pushed back a few times, most recently due to the APEX Summit that was hosted in the country. It’s only a temporary delay though, and we should soon be seeing the Infinix Hot Note hit Philippine shores in Anthracite Grey, Copper Brown, Champagne Gold, and Mint Green.
