Kata M1 to Launch in May with Full HD Screen and Attractive Php10k Price Tag

Kata M1 Front and Back

While the big players among local and budget brands duke it out with octa-core superphones, there’s still a market for phones with scaled back specs, especially if you can get them for significantly less. One such phone is the upcoming Kata M1, which sports a 5.7 inch Full HD display, quad core processor, and a surprisingly affordable price tag. While it’s not an octa core phone, there’s still plenty to love about the Kata M1.

The Kata M1 is driven by a 1.5GHz quad core MT6589T processor coupled with an overclocked PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. There’s also 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 13mp rear-facing autofocus camera and 5mp front facing camera. The Kata M1 runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and will be powered by a monstrous 4,000mAh battery.

The specs may not be top-shelf for a budget brand anymore, however the introductory Php9,999 price tag is certainly attractive. At the moment, there are some Full HD phones powered by the MT6589T that still retail for more than Php10k. Of course, the original SRP of the Kata M1 is actually Php11,999, but there’s a good chance it might not ever go back to that. They did something similar with the Kata i3 where they never went back to the intended SRP, so hopefully they’ll do the same thing with the Kata M1.

The Kata M1 will be launched in early May and a few of us have been invited to attend a small blogger’s event on April 25 to preview the unit. Is there anything about the M1 you guys would like me to check out when I get my hands on a review unit? Just let me know in the comments 🙂
