Samsung To Release Entry Level Galaxy Pocket Plus?

Galaxy Pocket Plus

Many of you are probably familiar with the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, a cute little bugger with a small 2.8 inch screen that followed up the Galaxy Y. Well according to SamMobile, Samsung looks to release its follow up, the Galaxy Pocket Plus GT-S5301, within the first half of 2013. It’s not a terribly powerful phone, which is to be expected since it’s a follow up to the Galaxy Pocket after all, but the internals have at least been updated enough to be able to run Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The most notable specs are a feeble 850Mhz Broadcom CPU, 512Mb of RAM, 4Gb of internal storage and a 2mp camera.

It’ll have a tougher time replicating the success of the Galaxy Y and Pocket in the Philippines though. Local phone brands have managed to grab the budget segment away from more established international brands by offering higher end specs at entry-level prices. They have a few build quality issues and dodgy after sales support though, which could be something the Galaxy Pocket Plus could bank on once it gets here.
